Meet Radialpointers

William

Job Title: Senior Install Developer
Years with Radialpoint: 3

What makes you get up and come to work for Radialpoint every morning?

It’s easy to come to work every morning. We always have interesting problems to solve and the tools and support to do it. I usually feel in control of my workload. My job is rewarding and there are usually small and sometimes large accomplishments every day, which gives me the feeling of making progress all the time.

Describe the culture at Radialpoint and how it’s different from any previous job.

Radialpointers are productive and team-oriented, but the culture here is relaxed. Everyone is expected to do their work with a minimum of management oversight, but lots of peer-review and teamwork. There is a great teaching and learning culture here, where we all help and support one another. Employees are self-motivated and competent, managers provide great employee support. I have worked for and with just about every department in the company and this culture exists everywhere, from the CEO on down. I’ve had experience at other companies where getting work done was made more difficult because of absent management or employees who could not deliver work. I’ve never seen that happen at Radialpoint.

What advice would you give to someone considering working at Radialpoint?

Be good at what you do. Enjoy what you do. I guess this is universal advice for a successful career.

What is your greatest achievement at Radialpoint?

Our main product’s install is still the team’s greatest accomplishment. It really pushes the envelope of what is possible using the technology and I doubt there are many install teams in the world that have gone as far as we have. In terms of functionality and reliability, we have made great strides and expect to be able to further improve these as we bring new technologies in. Install programs are often afterthoughts, but at Radialpoint our install technology is a selling point for our product.

Radialpoint strongly believes in balancing work and play. How has this approach impacted your life?

I do appreciate the Radialpoint’s policy of taking time off as a company for a movie or pairing offsite work with offsite activities. It gives more perspective on the work that we tend to take very seriously. It reminds us that we work hard in order to be able to enjoy our success too. It also gives the ability to get to know your fellow employees better and I’ve discovered that we have a lot of interesting, unique personalities at the company.
