Job Title: Network Operator
Internship date(s): 2006 – 2007, 2007 – 2008
University/College: École de technologie supérieure (ETS)
I had friends who did internships and also worked here full-time. They told me that the work environment is very unique and that it’s enriching to work here.
I learned to put into practice the theories that I had learnt at school. Being in a team also allowed me to learn a lot and improve the way I work. I studied network management and information servers for the Windows platform in CEGEP. In the operations department, I was able to grow my knowledge of network management and information servers for the Linux platform.
They should research the company that they are interested in doing an internship in by talking to current employees or previous interns. This makes it easier to choose between different internships. Since I really liked my time at Radialpoint, I decided to start my professional career here.
The other internships that I’ve done in the past were for the provincial government (hospital) and federal government (Canadian Space Agency). At Radialpoint, there are fewer employees than the government, making it easier to interact and get to know all the people that I work with.
I really liked the Tech Talks where different people in the company presented their work, their experience, or an aspect of technology that we didn’t yet know about.
