Meet Radialpointers

Élodie

Job Title: Software Development Intern
Internship date(s): Winter 2007, Winter 2008
University/College: École de technologie supérieure (ETS)

Why did you decide to intern at Radialpoint?

I chose to do two internships at Radialpoint initially because the job description was what I needed: to work within a development team. Then at the time of the interviews (human resources and technical) I found the people who represented the company were really cool and I liked the way they described the culture of the company.

How is working at Radialpoint different than you thought it would be?

I did not really have expectations but I believe that the fact that I did a second internship at Radialpoint and that I am now employed full-time says a lot.

Give an example of something you learned on the job at Radialpoint that you were never taught in school. How has that knowledge better prepared you for your future?

My internships at Radialpoint taught me that to be effective one should not adopt a hard line of following the letter of the law. Rather, it helped me to understand that it is necessary to be flexible, make compromises and adapt to reality.

Compared to your other internships, how has this one been different?

Compared to my internships, Radialpoint enabled me to see that it was possible to work using processes which give a good basic structure, without preventing initiative or individuality.

What was your favorite part of the Radialpoint Intern program?

I liked the technical presentations offered to interns but I especially appreciated being matched with senior developers who proved to be excellent mentors.
